hi! i’m briana.

Colorado LGBTQ Trauma Therapy

Holistic care to heal trauma, get good at relationships, and make work suck less.

EMDR & IFS THERAPY FOR ADULTS OF ANY GENDER

Things might look good on paper, but underneath you have a feeling there could be more to life than this…

Painful experiences from the past nag at you and you wonder what life might look like if you finally address them.

Maybe the trauma is blatant or maybe you wonder if your experiences even “count” as trauma but it seems important to explore them and see what could be on the other side.

If you’re going to heal, you need an affirming, welcoming place where your LGBTQ identities are celebrated!

You met someone great, but you don’t want old, unhealthy relationship patterns to play out again.

Part of you knows you have a lot to offer, but sometimes you wonder deep inside if you’re “too much,” or maybe “not enough” and you feel unloveable.

Stress and anxiety are regular undercurrents in your life and you know smoking or drinking are not really helping you cope…

Taking feedback at work is stressful and makes you doubt yourself despite your training and degrees.

Maybe you have questions of wanting to leave your job to do something more in alignment with yourself.

Maybe you feel like you need to hit some sort of reset button…

Colorado Trauma Therapist

I’m Briana Johnson, LPC, LAC. I’m an Denver LGBT therapist providing EMDR therapy in Denver with over a decade of experience. I’m terrible at pop culture and I love puns.

I use a holistic approach that considers the impact of everything from eating, sleeping, substance use, and moving your body on various areas of your life like relationships and work.

I blend EMDR and parts work (IFS) to get down to the root of painful past experiences and bring healing to these parts of you, so you can feel better today.

Together you can feel more free and experience less stress and anxiety and more of the relationships you want.

My goal for my clients is to have a sustainable life where you actually deeply believe in your own worth and goodness. I want you to feel like you can navigate what life throws at you, even if it’s hard.

My therapy approach is LGBTQ-centered, neurodiversity-affirming, fat-positive, and poly-friendly.

I won’t look at you sideways when you drop your partner’s pronouns or ask me to use a new name for you. We’ll curse, cry, and probably (hopefully) laugh. We’ll be human together.

  • Imagine yourself...

Feel confident and capable as you ride the ups and downs of life

Feeling deeply worthy and having compassion on yourself so you can have meaningful friendships and romantic relationships

Taking up space with friends and family and setting boundaries that feel good to you

Exploring what you want out of life and who you want to be

Having the relationship to alcohol and other substances that works for you

Really, really liking your life (most of the time—I mean, I’m not a wizard)

What My Colleagues Are Saying

Briana is one of the best clinicians with whom I have had the pleasure to work. She is so thoughtful, warm, insightful and incredibly skilled. She is the kind of therapist that clients are fortunate to see for support and colleagues are inspired by as she keeps us learning and growing in the best possible way.

— Jennifer Schroeder, LCSW

Briana is incredibly empathetic, compassionate, knowledgeable, and authentic. She has the rare gift of creating a space that feels non-judgmental, genuine, and safe for all of her clients and colleagues. I would whole-heartedly trust her with any referral personally and professionally. I feel very fortunate to know her and I believe my life is better for knowing her. I think you will feel the same way when you get the opportunity to work with her in the counseling space.

— Jessica Smith, LPC, LAC
